Bucs Place First in their Division

The Junior B Buccaneers had their Christmas wishes granted in December, winning 6 of 8 games and coming out first place in their division with 38 points.

The team kicked off December at Kerry Park Arena, beating the Islanders 4-2; Foglietta got two goals while Dunlop and Renwick each added one.

The following week at the Nanaimo Ice Centre, they blew out the Campbell River Storm, wining 4-1. Will McNamara opened the scoring at 4:28 on a powerplay, followed by a goal in the second period by Derian Hamilton. North Island Silvertips Player, Curtis McCarrick, netted two goals. The next night the Buccs kept on going, beating the Campbell River Storm 6-1 in their own arena. The Buccaneers had six unanswered goals until the Storm’s Colin Blake scored late in the third period.

The rest of the month, the Buccs were 3 and 2, first losing to the Oceanside Generals 5-3, then beating Kerry Park again 5-1 and losing to Comox Valley 5-4. They faced Campbell River in their last home game of 2012 and came away with a 5-4 win and on their last game of 2012 they swept Oceanside 4-1.
